Rebates & Incentives
The Federal Government changed the residential Tax Credit in October 2008. It was changed from $2,000.00 to 30% of job cost with no maximum dollar amount. Customers must deduct the California Solar Initiative (C.S.I.) rebate money from this.
| Example: | Cost of System | $24,000 |
| C.S.I. | $6,000 (Administered by us and your local carrier) | |
| Cost to customer now | $18,000 | |
| 30% Federal Tax Credit | $5,400 (30% of $24,000-$6,000) | |
| Net Price to customer | $12,600 |
Commercial customers will get the added benefit of a 5-year accelerated depreciation. Also, the government allows you to add 1/2 of your tax credit for your depreciation basis. Using the above example, the depreciation basis will allow the customer to add $2,700 to the net price of $12,600. The depreciation amount of your Solar Energy System will be $15,300.
The first Government incentive to install Solar is the California Solar Initiative Rebates. This is administered by Midwest Roofing and Solar and your local utility provider. The rebate calculators vary depending on who your utility provider is. The SCE rebate calculator can be found at http://www.csi-epbb.com/. The LADWP rebate calculator can be found at http://mapserve2.nrel.gov/website/LA_PVWatts/viewer.htm.
